(visit link)

(EN) Translation of the almost erased inscription "Abraham Duquesne Lieutenant General Naval Armies 1610 - 1655 *** Offered by the state by national subscription"

"Abraham Duquesne is a key figure of the village : general of the king's armies and owner of Bouchet from 1681 to 1688. Baron and Marquis, it is one of the relatives of the king, greatly appreciated him, and one of its loyal subjects. Protestant, he never converted to the Catholic religion and his death, despite the friendship between them, the king can offer funeral worthy of his rank. his body is buried at the edge of a pit.

His statue is placed on the base of an earlier statue of the Marquis, bronze. Indeed, the bronze bust of Abraham Duquesne, who was on the Place d'Armes of the barracks of the military Blowing Bouchet in Vert-le-Petit (91) since 1910, was melted under occupation. After liberation, the french state controls a stone bust of the great marine of Louis XIV to replace the bronze. This new bust was made by the sculptor Henri Marius Petit and placed on the original base, on 11 November 1949.
....
On the base, the list of victories won by Lieutenant General of the Levant Fleet is still legible and remains of this first installation. "Http://fr.topic-topos.com/buste-dabraham-duquesne-vert-le -small
