This part of the walk starts from the showground & heads in a south easterly direction for an overall distance of 3 kilometres. The full walk totals 5 kilometres. Normally a loop walk which utilizes a suspension bridge to cross the creek, the distance is now closer to 4 kilometres as the bridge is closed, awaiting repair & you need to double back.

You pass through temperate rainforest & below some very large boulders with occasional views over the creek. The ford over the creek at its upper reaches is made up of large natural boulders, some of which have cement steps cut into them.

It is an easy grade walk popular with both walkers & runners. It was established during the Great Depression by a concerned citizen Ernest Walsh better known as Ben. He obtained a grant to employ men who lived under the boulders & in caves along the creek.
