This relief depicts a young to middle-aged man with a beard and long hair. He wears a large hat and a ruffled shirt. A placard at the site informs us that this is a plaster cast of the original statue that was on the southeast facade of the 1915 Exposition Building. It was probably not intended to depict a particular individual but was to serve as a medallion to represent a Spanish conquistador. In 1971 the building was re-named the Casa de Prado. The artist is Henry R. Schmohl and it is dated 1914.
