Kamakahonu Beach is a public beach located at the King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, next to Kailua Pier at the northern end of Kailua bay in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Kamakahonu Beach is a small white sand beach centrally located in Kailua-Kona. It is family-friendly, frequented by young children who enjoy the calm and relatively well-protected waters and gentle wave action. There are also shady areas to relax, and the cove waters are popular among recreational swimmers. Locals call it “Keiki” (Children) Beach. There is no lifeguard on site.
The pier is usually bustling with activity and lots of children are playing in the water. It is great for snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding.
Kamakahonu Beach is right next to the famous heiau of King Kamehameha I called Ahu'ena Heiau as well as the place where he had his royal residence called Kamakahonu, meaning "Eye of the Turtle".
Outside of the cove of the inner bay are the best snorkeling areas popular among scuba divers as well as SNUBA. Snorkelers can swim out around Kailua Pier and Ahu'ena Heiau, outside of the cove and in Kailua Bay, where there is an abundance of fish, coral, and other marine life.
