Living memorial to those Carleton Place and area residents who served and made the ultimate sacrifice in World War I, World War II and Korea.

The trees each represent one of the 94 who died. They are planted in front of various schools in the Carleton Place area.

Accompanying plaque reads:

VICTORY TREES

Maple trees planted at this site commemorate the lives lost by citizens of Carleton Place as a result of military service during WWI, WWII and Korea.
With 94 names on our Cenotaph, the same corresponding numbers of trees have been planted, collectively, at each Carleton Place school. Each tree represents a living memorial to a specific victim of war.

LEST WE FORGET

It is our eternal hope that this list never grows, but these trees flourish, and reach for the heavens.

Living Maple Tree saplings in front of every school in Carleton Place, with an accompanying marker. This one is in front of St Mary's separate School on Hawthorne Ave.
