The artist took inspiration from the surrounding Tempe community’s diversity with regards to its inhabitants, buildings and landscape. The silhouette of a little girl, painted in greyscale, represents the organic innocence of starting every day with a brand new perspective and opportunity to create something brilliant. Inspired by the belief that thoughts become things, Townsend depicted the little girl painting her perspective into reality, portrayed by the colorful geometric surroundings coming from her paintbrush. The cascading abstract flowers echo the hibiscus and blooming cacti that dot the Tempe landscape. Every day brings an opportunity to proactively create, change and positively influence the environment in which we live in.
