The Loutre River is rich in history, this is a good place to gain access to the river to enjoy some time on the water fishing. Bass, catfish, sunfish, and crappie are reported as abundant in this river. On our visit we caught small black bass and saw some big gar swimming around. The bass were caught on a small white spinner bait. Graham Cave State Park offers paved boat access to the river along with barbecue grills and picnic tables. The park also maintains the Loutre River trail, a publicly accessible hiking and mountain biking trail that runs adjacent to the river bank for about one-half mile.
