National Register of Historic Places Nomination Form

"The Lucas House is an irregular, 2-story frame house. The 1909 Sanborn Map depicts a small, 1-story entrance porch, which probably displayed modest Eastlake or Colonial Revival detailing. Originally, the house consisted of a modified square plan. In 1918 the verandah with four south bays and three west bays meeting in a conical-roofed, 1-bay corner pavilion replaced the original porch. Sometime before 1928, most likely at the same time as the construction of the verandah, a rear addition, now the kitchen, was added. A 1928 Sanborn map shows that the verandah extended around the entire house from the extended walls of the kitchen addition. Although the dates are not certain, the north and east sides of the porch were later enclosed, creating the current breakfast room and extending the living/dining room. Although the enclosures closely match the original fabric of the house, these changes may have occurred much later, possibly at the same time as the east room addition."
