James Kalogerakos as born in Greece on September 3, 1873. He died in October 1973 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, USA (visit link) . He had two children that are also buried in Evergreen Cemetery: Dena Kalogerakos Fotinos (1915-2006) (visit link) and Pete J. Kalogerakus (1920-1995) (visit link) .

James Kalogerakos was a member of the St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church in Jacksonville, which is third oldest parish in the state of Florida. The current church building was completed in March of 1968, and "Mr. James Kalogerakos, the only living charter member of the church and the oldest parishioner at 100 years of age, cut the ribbon on "Thyranixion Day"." (visit link) (Thyranixion is the solemn celebration of the inauguration of liturgical use of a church by the Greek-Orthodox community.) It's interesting that the church website states he was 100 at the time of Thyranixion in 1968 as his headstone indicates he didn't turn 100 until 1973.
