Opened in 1929, the Cozy Theatre is located in the historic Von Minden Hotel in Schulenburg. It was designed by architect Ernest L. Shult.

While common in the northeast, theater-hotels were quite rare in Texas and the Von Minden is the last of its tribe. Mr. Von Minden financed the building as a wedding present. The Pettits bought the place in 1977 and busily went about not changing a thing. Mr. Pettit is an attorney with his office on the second floor, next to the projection room.
