The sign hangs out from the pub wall over the footpath in Smith Street and is hung from a decorative wrought iron bracket. The basic shape of the sign is oval with the major axis being horizontal. This has a brown border and a pale background upon which are painted simple, leafless trees. The bottom of the sign has a scroll effect that has a maroon background with the words "The Roebuck" in gold lettering. In front of the oval background is a metal image of a roebuck in full flight in shallow relief. The roebuck's four hooves extend beyond the edge of the background. The roebuck is painted in natural colours. This is repeated on the reverse side of the sign.
