Located within Peninsula Park is a large flagpole accompanied by a series of tablets at its base that commemorate a historic event in our country. One of the tablets reads:

This flag was raised on December 15,
1991 to commemorate the Bicentennial
of the Bill of Rights of the United States
Constitution.

Incidentally, this flag was at half staff in observance of Nancy Reagan's passing. This park is very popular with tourists and locals alike and there's the popular Balboa Pier nearby that attracts many visitors. It was unfortunate to see a number of the tablets with the Amendments etched in stone had worn away to a great degree. Other than that, this monument stands out in this park and invites visitors to read each of the Ten Amendments to learn about the power they convey in today's times and functions of our country.
