Robeson County has a wide spread county fire departments. This community felt they were underserved with extended distances to area fire departments. An initial 34 residents stepped forward to volunteer their time to man the station. They trained at the White House Station 36 main station on NC 41. Monies were procured from the county to build a station and purchase equipment. Now the area has a fire district that collects assessments for fire protection services to fund the department. Now residents in the fire district enjoy a local fire station and lower home owners insurance.
