This monument is a large boulder with a bronze plaque on it.
The plaque reads:

"Opdat wij niet vergeten de jaren 1940 - 1945.
Een herinnering aan D.P. Drummond, Australische piloot,
die hier een tijdelijke rustplaats vond van
01-04-1945 tot 28-04-1945."

"So we do not forget the years 1940-1945.
A reminder of D.P. Drummond, Australian pilot,
who found a temporary resting place here
01-04-1945 to 28-04-1945."

A few weeks before The Netherlands was liberated by the Allies unfortunately pilot D.P. Drummond, with his Hawker Typhoon during a mission, shot down near Bruchterveld, The Netherlands.
The inhabitants buried him here temporarily but will never forget him.

Donald Peter Drummond is reburied at Hardenberg Protestant Cemetery named "Nijenstede" in Hardenberg, The Netherlands.
