Located within the Queen Mary and closer to the stern of the Queen Mary and near the 4D movie Theater is a static display of a large anchor. There is a small description on the anchor that reads:
The Queen Mary carried two 16-ton anchors, still located on the bow of the ship. This third anchor was kept in Southhampton England for quick replacement in case of accidental loss.
Each anchor was attached to 990-feet of chain, such as the section above you. Each link was tested to a load of 290 tons.
It's hard to imagine that a single link of this chain weighed 224 pounds! Wow.
