S. Katherine McClintock Wilcox died at the age of 101. She is buried in Pioneer Cemetery in Grand Canyon National Park.

The plaque on her gravestone says, "Her Scotch-Irish father was a postman and her mother a schoolteacher on the plains of Kansas. She was born at home in Wtichtia and graduated form Wichita East High. She attended William Woods College before completing her degree in education at Kansas State. Her teaching career started in a one-room schoolhouse in Kansas and culminated at Grand Canyon High School. While at Grand Canyon, she received her Masters Degree from Northern Arizona University. She has successful students who have scatted to the ends of the earth. Her proudest achievement was raising the successful sons; a surgeon, an engineer, and a businessman. She was dedicated, caring and loving mother who taught her sons how to both cook and knit. She was an incredible grandmother and great-grandmother. She traveled the world over and cherished returning to Ireland and Scotland to meet her Mcclintock cushions. She loved reading, music, and family. She was a spirited and determined woman. Her contributions to her family, students and community were enormous. As an English teacher, she would have been much more spiritual of this memorial than was the author."
