This raised sidewalk mosaic depicts the silhouette of two Bahamian citizens, a man and a woman, back to back, both looking outwards from the mosaic. There is a small step-up walkway to get a better view.
The description plaque in front of the mosaic reads:
"COMMUNITY ART MOSAIC
This mosaic floorspace is a gift from the Art Zone Studio. Artists and art lovers worked collectively to create an artwork by the community, for the community!
To achieve the resulting design, over 22,000 tesserae were shaped by hand and set into 150 independant "stones". This project required 2,000 volunteer man-hours over 8 months, and was completed in April of 2013.
Concept by the studio's founder and artist, Jackie Boss.
Installation courtesy fo the Grand Bahama Port Authority Limited and Port Lucaya Marketplace.
