Kate Chopin (February 8, 1851 – August 22, 1904) moved into this house in 1903, a year prior to her death. She was originally born and raised in St. Louis but moved to New Orleans when she married. She became a noted author of short stories and novels. Her most well known work "The Awakening" published in 1899.
