It lies next to the B 498 federal road in Oker Valley. In order to make the 1861 - 1863 built nearby hotel even more idyllic, the investor had some of the water of the River Romke diverted along a ditch to rocks above the lodge, where it then cascaded down a 64 m (210 ft) descent as the Romkerhall Waterfall (Romkerhaller Wasserfall), making it the highest waterfall in the Harz mountains by some margin. The site is today a restaurant, hotel and popular destination, that is marketed as the Kingdom of Romkerhall.
