The plaque says, "The first Hawaiian Christian, Henry Opulahaia, did at Cornwall, Conn. 1818.

The first Christian Missionaries to Hawaii, Bingham, Thurston, Whitney, landed at Kailua, April 12, 1820 with their Hawaiian comrades Hopu, Kanui, Honolii."
