EN/The collegiate church of Saint-Denis d'Amboise is a Romanesque style building from 1107 by Hugh I, lord of Amboise. It is built on the site of an oratory built in the fourth century by Saint Martin, Bishop of Tours, itself built on a pagan temple. It is the oldest church in the city.
The church looks like a Romanesque building: a simple plan, pure and simple lines and sumptuous carved capitals.
The building was enlarged in the sixteenth century by adding to it all the south aisle of the Entombment to the chapel of the Font (which clearly projects beyond the entrance on the west coast).
Collapsed in the eighteenth century, the tower had to be rebuilt at the same time
Also found in the Saint-Denis collegiate some beautiful stained glass windows of the nineteenth century, such as the Ascension or that of the Virgin in Majesty.
