Marker Text:

In Memory of
RICHARD S. BROWNLEE
Who generously devoted
Much time and energy
To the building of
Highways for the
State of Missouri.

The sign for the name of this roadside park has been removed. MoDoT has removed some of these parks, but not this one. These parks were built for the US Hwys through Missouri for travelers during the 30s, 40s, 50s, & 60s; but newer Hwys bypass the towns and the parks, and most people use Interstates and miss them completely.

Mr. Brownlee was instrumental in the original creation of these parks and a memorial to him in one of them was very appropriate.
