The Guildford Centennial Gates were dedicated on September 21st 1929 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Western Australia in 1829 by Capt James Stirling R.N.. The two eastern pillars and the gates were destroyed when a tree branch fell on them, following the reconstruction ond restoration of the pillars and gates they were rededicated in 2012
