FR/Au XIIIe siècle, on trouve à cette emplacement une porte de ville, la porte d’Amasse, dont il subsiste encore aujourd'hui la voûte en partie basse.
Charles VIII, sous son règne, la Transforme en Beffroi en 1445. Des travaux sont réalisés aux frais des habitants d’Amboise à partir de 1495. L’horloge sera installée en 1500.
En 1933, la Tour est classée monument historique.
Sous ce porche, nous trouvons une statue en terre cuite de la vierge Marie, d'un mètre de haut, actuellement protégée par une paroi transparente.
Au sommet, la cloche fait un 1m de haut et 4 de circonférence
