The Plano Community Garden is a cooperative partnership between the City of Plano's Sustainability and Environmental Education Division, Junior League of Collin County, and the Plano Community Gardeners. The garden's 50 raised beds provide over 5,000 pounds of fresh produce annually to community food pantries and present hands-on educational opportunities for local schools, children's organizations, and organic gardeners.
All produce grown in the 4-feet-by-18-feet raised beds is organic. Gardeners are welcome to keep up to 50% of their harvest; the remainder is donated to local food pantries for distribution to their clients. Texas vegetable gardens require sustained care over 3 seasons. Plots are checked 2 to 3 times a week in the spring for watering and weeding, and almost daily in the summertime. For volunteer opportunities in the garden, view the 2015 PCG workdays calendar. Send us an email with questions or to volunteer
