The Desert Wash Trail is located at the front of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Visitor Center off US 93 near Boulder City, NV.
The short trail, fully paved and accessible, provides an overview of the desert wash environment , through use of interpretive signs, geologic formations and indigenous plant life.
The main interpretive sign reads:
DESERT WASH COMMUNITY
Following the Wash bottoms, this com-
munity occurs from the lowest elevation of
the creosote bush community to the middle
elevations of the community.
Water concentrates here during rain-
storms and because more underground water
is available, plants grow here in greater
abundance than the surrounding areas. The
ample food and shelter of this community
attracts a variety of wildlife.
There ample examples of cacti, brush, etc.
Allow about 15 minutes to wander through leisurely.
