PORT OF WAVERLY On June 17 and 18, 1804
Lewis and Clark camped a few miles down-stream to make oars from timber in the area. Near the camp was a river crossing for Sacs, Ayauways (Iowas) and Sioux in their excursions against the Osage. On June 19, the explorers continued upstream past this spot.
