Long Description:
This building was constructed in 1906 as the headquarters and manufacturing facility for the Sanitol Chemical Laboratory Company, a mouthwash and dental products manufacturer. The building was designed in a Classical Revival by legendary St. Louis architect George W. Hellmuth, one of the founders of Hellmuth, Obata, Kassabaum, Inc. Sanitol occupied the building until 1922. The building was then occupied by Johnson Stephens & Shinkle Shoe Company and later by Borden Dairy and Crown Foods. The building is currently being converted to luxury apartments.
