From Port Arnsas - South Jetty News Article
The seven foot bronze Tarpon is frozen in motion as it leaps from a pink granite jetty rock base.
Mayor Dale Bietendorf told the crowd that the tarpon was selected as the subject of the sculpture because the popular "silver king" was the main attraction in the community for over a century. He noted the name of the city was Tarpon before it was officially changed to Port Aransas in 1911."
