"The post was chartered in 1946. The veterans returning from World War II built the post on donated land and has been in continuous service for nearly 65 years.

Black-Phillips Post 433 is named in honor of two men whom did not return from the war, giving their lives for the United States:

S1/c Joseph Grady Black went down with his ship, USS Houston (CA-30), during a nighttime naval engagement against Japan off the island of Java early in the war.

Staff Sergeant Harry DeWitte Phillips died in combat during the retaking of the city of Manila in the Phillippines."
