No 311 (Czechoslovak) Squadron RAF (visit link) was a Czechoslovakia-manned bomber squadron of the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. At the end of the war, it disbanded as an RAF unit and became part of the reformed Czechoslovak Air Force.

Jan Matejka graduated from pilot training in the context of military service in the years 1937-1939 at the 2nd Aviation Regiment Czechoslovak army in Olomouc. In February 1940 he left over Slovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey to the Middle East. Syria went to France, where he joined in forming the Czechoslovak army. After the fall of France he was evacuated to Britain, where he served from 29 July 1940 until the end of the war with the 311th Czechoslovak Bomber Squadron. In the liberated country continue to act as a military pilot. After the communist takeover was discharged from the army and worked in the profession working in the company Jitex Pisek. He lived under the constant supervision of the State Security. He died in a tragic car accident in 1976.

Jan Matejka absolvoval pilotní výcvik v rámci základní vojenské služby v letech 1937–1939 u 2. leteckého pluku ceskoslovenské armády v Olomouci. V únoru 1940 odešel pres Slovensko, Madarsko, Jugoslávii, Recko a Turecko na Blízký východ. Ze Sýrie se dostal do Francie, kde vstoupil do formující se ceskoslovenské zahranicní armády. Po kapitulaci Francie byl evakuován do Velké Británie, kde sloužil od 29. cervence 1940 až do konce války u 311. ceskoslovenské bombardovací perute RAF. V osvobozené vlasti i nadále pusobil jako vojenský pilot. Po prevzetí moci komunisty byl z armády propušten a pracoval v delnické profesi v podniku Jitex Písek. Žil pod neustálým dohledem Státní bezpecnosti. Zemrel pri tragické autonehode v roce 1976.
