Lednické rybníky patrí mezi nejvýznamnejší ornitologické lokality u nás. Predstavují významné hnízdište i prirozenou zastávku na migracní
trase ptáku mezi severem a jihem Evropy. Rybnicní soustavu, která byla vybudována již v 15. století, tvorí ctyri prutocné rybníky – Nesyt,
Hlohovecký, Prostrední a Mlýnský rybník o celkové rozloze asi 550 ha. Mezi Lednické rybníky se radí ješte Zámecký rybník v Lednici. Všech
pet rybníku je soucástí národní prírodní rezervace. Bylo tu prokázáno hnízdení více než devíti desítek druhu ptáku a další desítky druhu zde
lze zastihnout v dobe jarního a podzimního tahu. Tato brožura prináší pouze malou ukázku z této široké palety. Nekteré z druhu patrí u nás
k bežným, zatímco jiné jsou v rámci celé CR vzácné, ale zde je možné je pozorovat pomerne pravidelne.
Publikace nemá ambice stát se príruckou pro urcování ptáku. Jejím úkolem je pouze seznámit ctenáre z rad široké verejnosti s vybranými druhy
a probudit u nich zájem o Lednické rybníky a jejich bohaté prírodní hodnoty. Pro tento úcel byly využity zdarilé ilustrace malíre Petra Nesvadby,
doplnené krátkými texty a údaji o dobe výskytu ptáku u nás a o období jejich hnízdení. Aby byla informace o jednotlivých
druzích ucelená, je ke každému druhu pripojena také silueta umožnující získat predstavu o jeho reálné velikosti
a mapka rozšírení. Tyto mapy vycházejí ze soucasných dat o výskytu druhu vyjádrených na podkladu ctvercové
síte 10×10 km. Puvodní podkladová data však bylo nutno pro úcely publikace výrazne generalizovat a vybarvené
oblasti tedy oznacují pouze orientacní výskyt druhu v daném prostoru, nikoliv však cetnost jeho výskytu
