There are several Geocaches nearby and we check to see if there are Benchmarks as well. We made two trips to find this one. I came in the morning and easily found the witness posts. One even has a plaque on it with all the information stamped on it! I had nothing to dig with. I brought my daughter with me after school with two tools (a spade and a weeder) We probed with the digger and dug with the spade and our hands. SO MUCH FUN! and like in the movies when we hit something had and it had a "concrete" sound to it, EXCITEMENT! We brushed away the dirt to reveal "O.C.F.C.D R/W MON BM JO1-IV-81 LS 3522".
This is a Right of Way Monument from the OCFCD (Orange County Flood Control District). It even has the Land Surveyor's number stamped on it. LS 3522 (
visit link) . I looked him up and the license is "cancelled". But, we think it is due to retirement.
After we dug it up and took pictures, we covered it up again.
