Legal Sea Foods is a New England institution. For many, no visit to Boston's waterfront would be complete without a having meal at Legal Sea Foods. Underneath the large neon sign proclaiming LEGAL SEA FOODS at Long Wharf (255 State Street) there is an approximately 12' long sculpture of a big cod fish.
This is an appropriate symbol for display above the entrance to this restaurant. Freshly caught cod is one of the staples of the Legal Sea Foods menu. The cod is also famously associated with the history of Massachusetts and is, also, the state fish of Massachusetts.
