The Big Bunny Market has become a local landmark and institution in Southbridge, MA. The obvious feature is the huge sign with the three dimensional sculpture of a bunny that occupies the southwest end of the roof. The bunny is wearing blue overalls and a checkered shirt. It stands on the scaffolding of the sign with both hands in its pockets.
The Big Bunny Market a family owned and operated supermarket. The business was started by three brothers, Henry, Sonny, and Peter Palmerino in the early 1950's. They started out as a small store located on Pleasant St.and soon outgrew their available space. In the early 1960's they moved to the present location at 942 Main St in The Big Bunny Market Plaza. A major renovation of the entire Plaza was done in 1996-97. Today the third generation family members are currently working in the business along with many longtime employees.
