The clock has three identical faces and they are incorporated into a cube, probably made of wood, that has a decorative base and a larger, buit flatter box section above that has the word "LIR" on the three visible sides. On top of the box structure are automatons that consist of two humans, swans and a bell mounted in a frame.
The clock face is white and has the wording "J Smith & Sons Cork" in black lettering. The hour and minute marks are painted directly on to the clock face and are also black. The hour marks are Arabic numerals. The hands are a very simple design and have short tails. They too are coloured black.
