This was found in one of the nearby river from an ancient ship wreck in the 1800's.

The plaque says, "Recovered from the Savannah River on February 27, 1994 during Georgia Department of Transportation construction work for the U.S. 17 Alt./ Talmadge Bridge in Savannah, Georgia, this 1200 pound anchor would have been used on large ocean going or river vessels during the first half of the 19th century.

** Metal conservation completed by the Florida Department of State, Bureau of Archaeological Research, Tallahassee"
