This station, a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey standard bench mark disk, is located in Stonington, CT. It is set in a rock outcrop situated between a small storefront and U.S. Route 1:
STATION DESCRIPTION
DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1965
1 MI SW FROM PAWCATUCK.
1.0 MILES SOUTHWEST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 1 FROM THE JUNCTION OF
STATE HIGHWAY 2 AT PAWCATUCK, ABOUT 0.7 MILE NORTHEAST OF THE
STONINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, SET ON THE TOP OF A 5-BY-5 FOOT BURIED
BOULDER WHICH PROJECTS 1 FOOT ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE GROUND, ON
THE PROPERTY OF MRS. T.I. FALLON, 25 1/2 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE
CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 27.5 FEET NORTH-NORTHWEST OF THE
NORTH CORNER OF THE FALLON RESIDENCE, 19 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE
CENTER LINE OF A DRIVEWAY, 4 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A HEDGE FENCE,
AND ABOUT 1 FOOT ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE HIGHWAY
THE 1965 DESCRIPTION IS ADEQUATE EXCEPT A
NEW HOUSE HAS BEEN BUILT, OMIT 27.5 FT NORTH-NORTHWEST OF THE NORTH
CORNER OF THE FALLON RESIDENCE, ADD 9.90 METERS (32.5 FT) WEST OF THE
NORTH CORNER OF A SINGLE STORY FRAME HOUSE, NUMBER 76.
As shown with the latest update to the description, the mark should be easy to locate. The rock outcrop is northeast from a large white sign, and is surrounded by dwarf pine tree shrubs. At this time of writing, the store was vacant.
