Library Carving - Inola, OK - Outside Wooden Display Carvings on Waymarking.com

Inola is a town of about 1800 people in northeastern Oklahoma. The local public library on Broadway is home to this lovely wood carving.

The carving was created by Clayton Coss and presented to the library in 2005. His name appears as one of six families who made this donation possible.

The tree stump carving is approximately seven feet high and depicts a stack of six large books on which a little girl sits reading. At her left side, a young boy stands with his foot on one of the books as if he, too, wants to climb to the top.

The inscription at the rear shows a cross, the name COSS and the year 05. Clayton Coss has carved thousands of trees in northeastern Oklahoma and surrounding states. He has been carving since 1985 and does all his work with a chainsaw.
