The plaque says, "A large abstract form built out of discarded shipping containers, Ode to Frank Gehry is one of many all white works of Purifoy's Joshua Tree site reflecting the austerity of the desert. It pays homage to the renowned Los Angeles-based architect and to Purifoy's own architectural aspirations. "The say that it looks like something {Gehry} might do, or might have done in his early years," Purifoy remarked. "It's been said that I'm a frustrated architect."
