In Dedham, within Brookdale Cemetery, is this memorial for Korean War Veterans.
Brookdale Cemetery is located off a residential neighborhood. From High Street, turn onto Brookdale Avenue, then turn right at the curve. After passing through the gate, turn left and drive on the road a short distance to the memorial on the left, just before the fountain in a pond.
The monument is made of an almost black stone about six feet tall. The front face has an etching of the Korean Peninsula, with the DMZ in the middle.
The text is as follows:
"KOREA
The Forgotten War
Remembered
25 June
------
1950
27 July
-----
1953
Dedicated to the men and women from the town of Dedham Massachusetts who fought and died to protect freedom and Democracy."
At the base are engraved different military branches plus the Merchant Marine and the POW-MIA logo.
The memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day in 2013.
