Chargeur à foin situé au Parc Barron rue Principale. -Lachute. -QC.
Magnifique sentier de marche en boucle de près d'un kilomètre. Un espace enchanteur par la beauté du site et divers monuments relatant l'histoire de la Ville et par une vue surplombant la rivière du Nord.
Le long du sentier on trouve ce chargeur à foin gracieuseté de la famille Rogers a qui il a appartenue.
Ce chargeur de foin est outil qui servait aux agriculteurs au début du 20e siècle, tiré par des chevaux. L’équipement faisait tomber le foin dans une charrette qui suivait à l’arrière. Facilement observable en tout temps de jour une petite clôture de perche en fait le tour.
Le Chargeur de Foin Mc Cormick International était ’une grande légèreté de traction du fait de l’absence de tout engrenage ou vilebrequin.
Il permettait de charger une tonne de foin en quelques minutes tout au long du travail grâce à une grande hauteur d’élévation du foin. D’autres part il travaillait très près des haies ou des fossés. Nul besoin de râteau après son passage : le ramassage était complet et bien net, quel que soit la conformation du terrain.
Il était bâti tout en acier, fortement entretoisé et indéformable. Des roulements à galets assuraient une douceur et une régularité de fonctionnement remarquables. l'Élévateur était composé de lattes boulonnées sur des chaines d’entrainement et réunies entre elles par des chainettes galvanisées. La partie supérieure de l’élévateur s’abaissait au début des travaux pour remonter au fur et à mesure de l’avancement du chargement. Apprécier en région de vent violent et pour sa facilité à être remiser sous le hangar de faible hauteur. Barre d’attelage avec crochet ou loqueteau, réglable en longueur, assuraient un accouplement convenable quel que soit la situation du point d’attache de la fourragère pour chevaux, charrette et tracteur.

Along the trail we find this hay loader courtesy of the Rogers family to whom he belonged.
