The historic 15th century Market Cross was removed in 1793 by the Lord of the Manor, Sir John Danvers to his own park at nearby Swithland Hall, where it remains to this day. A replica of the cross was built and sited in the Market place opposite the Butter Market in celebration of the Parish Council centenary.
