The first owner of the structure was George Nace. Mr Nace was one of the leading members of the Haanover Community when it was incorporated as a town in 1815. He was also Hanover's first Mayor. Mr. Nace also was a writer, Justice of the Peace, and a member of State Legistature, elected on the Federalist ticket. His father, Mathias Neas, operated a tanning business, which George helped with.
