The Crawfordsville Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the City of Crawfordsville and Union Township in Montgomery County Indiana. In addition, the department provides mutual aid assistance and advanced life support intercept services to surrounding departments and communities in west central Indiana. The department was established in 1869 after a major fire destroyed a block of the downtown and several businesses. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was incorporated into the department by the mid 1900's, and the department became one of the founders of fire service based EMS. (visit link)
