Coordinates are located at the entrance to the grounds of the old Zzyzx Mineral Springs and Spa, on the shore of a dry soda ash lake in the eastern California Mojave desert.
Zzyzx was founded in the 1940's by an eccentric millionaire who built the "city" on the premise of the dry lake's and nearby underground streams' "curative" and "restorative" powers. However, shady business deals and bogus claims soon spelled the end of the spa and it was closed and abandoned in the early 1970's.
Currently, CSU uses the facilities as a research center. Visitors are welcome, but need to check-in with staff on arrival.
There is an E Clampus Vitus marker close to here, as well as several information boards scattered throughout.
