The former bank building at the intersection of Moorabool and Ryrie Streets, Geelong, was erected in 1888 for the recently formed and short lived Mercantile Bank which closed in the depression of the late 1890's. The premises were later occupied by auctioneers and land agents until in 1917 it was occupied by the Union Bank and later the ANZ Bank. The ground floor is now a chinese restaurant and the upper floors is a massage and beauty business
