The following text is taken from The Ottawa Journal newspaper, 24 September 1974, page 43.

In hospital, on Monday, Sept. 23, 1974, Winifred Wilks, sister of the late Mrs. Effie Mott, formerly of Glenn Ave., in her 101st year; aunt of Rowland Mott, of Ottawa and Chester Mott, of Burlington, Ont. Resting Hulse and Playfair, Central Chapel, 315 McLeod St. Service Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment Pinecrest cemetery.

Newspaper headlines at that time include descriptions of Hurricane Fifi which killed thousands in Honduras.

In 1874, the year of Winifred's birth, a QWERTY typewriter first went on the market.
