This is the north end of the canyon. You will need to pay for parking in the Regional Park and head down the canyon.

Heading south from this point is all downhill. There are some very sand parts near the start of the trail. It is all fire road with only a gentle downhill. Various exit points are available along the canyon.
You can actually make it down to Doheny Beach in Dana Point along this trail. It will take you a while, and there are some steep hills south of Crown Valley Parkway. I would only suggest that as a one way trip.
