sign text "Andrew Mann Inn 1795-1860 A stagecoach stop along the Catskill Turnpike National Register of Historic Places"
"There are older ones, but this one is slightly more valuable historically in that it is a true representation of a transitional period in architecture, from the Georgian to the Federal styles. Also it was an important historical point, being one of the first buildings rebuilt after Revolutionary War fighting had destroyed most of the two nearby villages. At that point in time it was the frontier, and people crossed the Susquehanna River by ferry if they wanted to go South, before the river got too big to cross.
Over the years, it served as a stagecoach stop, an Inn, an important agricultural center after its usefullmess as a travellers lodging had waned as the frontier moved West, and later provided more land for housing as factories grew in the area."

"The Inn was built by architect James DeCalvin just a few years after the end of the Revolutionary War, part of the rebirth of two villages torched during the war. "
